Tom Brady, the star quarterback for the New England Patriots in America’s NFL, and the husband of supermodel Giselle Bündchen, has been airing a documentary series about his life on Facebook’s new video platform in the US over the past week.
It’s been getting good reviews, providing Mark Zuckerberg’s US$540 billion (NZ$731 billion) social media giant with some temporary respite after a nightmare year in the court of public opinion – if not the stockmarket.
In recent months, some of Facebook’s earliest and staunchest supporters have turned against it, raising concerns about the impact it is having on children’s minds, and on broader society.
​Politicians and academics have admonished the company for failing to stem the spread of fake news on its platforms, and for selling ads to Russian troll groups during the 2016 US elections.
