Slow iPhones don’t slow Apple App Store sales

Slower iPhones don’t seem to be slowing Apple users’ enthusiasm for the tech giant’s app store.

A record-breaking U$300 million (NZ$420m) was spent on New Year’s Day, Apple said on Friday, bringing the holiday total to US$800m.

New augmented reality features saw Pokemon GO back at the top of the charts to end 2017, the company said.

“We are thrilled with the reaction to the new App Store and to see so many customers discovering and enjoying new apps and games,” Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller said. “We want to thank all of the creative app developers who have made these great apps,” he added.
