There is no job done today that won’t soon be done better by a computer, the audience at Singularity U New Zealand Summit was told on Monday.
“There’s no sanctuary,” said David Roberts, a futurist and noted speaker on disruptions and exponential technologies. He is chairman of a global drone services company and adviser to Made-In-Space, responsible for manufacturing the first object in space with a 3D printer on the Space Station.
Everyone and every job will be subject to disruption, he said in Christchurch.
Disruption is different from innovation, which is making incremental improvements or making the same thing slightly better. Disruption is making new things that make the old things obsolete.
