A tragic weekend on Waikato's roads has seen three people killed and four injured in two separate crashes.

Hamilton learner driver clocked by police travelling at 127kmh in 60kmh zone

A learner driver has been locked up for two nights after being caught driving double the speed limit in wet conditions with passengers.
An officer of the Waikato Road Policing team recorded the man driving 127 kmh in a 60 kmh speed zone in Hamilton on Saturday night.
The road was wet, he was on his learner licence with a passenger and he "wanted to go faster", the officer posted on Facebook.
"Nope. Unacceptable," said the Waikato Road Policing Team Facebook post. "#notinthemoodforboyracers."
